The Dragon and Her Knight
Once upon a time there was a brave and gentle knight.
Her armor polished to the point it reflected the palest moonlight.
She heard tall tales of a princess captured by a terrifying beast.
To everyone’s surprise, the dragon was a brilliant shade of pink!
She rode across hot desert planes and the forest of never ending winter,
to supplicate on bended knee “The princess, won’t you please free her?”
The dragon pondered long and hard, scales guarding warm, soft flesh.
“I could do that I do suppose, you’ll take her place, I guess?”
Fear gripped the knight who struggled to stay cautious and composed.
“Of course I am, for I’m a knight!” and to the beast she was betrothed.
That same night the dragon carried her up the tower’s steps.
The beast had been the one to rush and immediately wed.
“But the princess, you promised in exchange you’d set her free!”
A stolen kiss, a puff of smoke.
“The princess was always me.”
